How to Make Banana Bread: The 3 Best Recipes to Try Out

Bread — why do we love it so much? Maybe because it tastes so good, or because it’s so easy to make your own delicious loaves at home thanks to the variety of bread machines we have on the market? Whatever the reason might be, one thing is sure… we love bread, and most of us can’t do without it.

Breads come in different types and flavors, but the top and most desired type is banana bread. There’s something special about it, aside from helping you save bananas from going rotten, it’s incredibly delicious, particularly if you follow the right recipe. Here are some of the best ones to try out today:

The 3 Best Banana Bread Recipes

TheKitchn: This one begins with several tips on how to make the most of it, like leaving chunks in your bananas or mashing them in a separate bowl if you don’t like chunks, and most importantly, using only ripe bananas for the best results. According to TheKitchn’s Emma, the author, this is a time-tested recipe and a highly forgiving one too, so you shouldn’t worry too much about making mistakes while following it.

The formula also allows tweaking. For example, if you don’t like white sugar, you can substitute white sugar with brown sugar. You can also substitute butter with margarine, and even leave out the eggs if you want. Producing a wonderful loaf is all that matters, and you can still get that with your tweaks. All the ingredients required are also common ingredients, so you won’t have to search hard to find or buy them.

The ingredients you’ll need are: sugar, eggs, milk, vanilla extract, unsalted butter, cooking spray, all-purpose flour, salt, baking soda, and of course, ripe bananas. An optional ingredient to add more flavor to your loaf is chocolate chips. You can also use chopped nuts in place of that. Click here to check out the recipe.

Food Network: Food Network simply goes straight to the point and lists the ingredients and steps involved. This recipe was created by Mary Sue Milliken and Susan Feniger, and it’s a simple one just like that of TheKitchn. It’s also shorter and requires two ingredients that TheKitchn’s formula doesn’t require, namely ground cinnamon and baking powder.

While TheKitchn recommends a baking time of 1 hour to 1 hour and 5 minutes, Food Network recommends a baking time of 1 hour to 1 hour and 10 minutes, so not a huge difference there. If you’re looking for a nice, easy, and simple recipe, Food Network’s got you covered.

Cookie and Kate: This one was created by the popular food blogger, Kate, and her dog LOL (imagine a dog wearing an apron and baking). Just like TheKitchn’s Emma, Kate highlights the top benefits of following her own formula, which is making healthier bread since she doesn’t recommend processed sugar and refined flour.

She recommends honey or maple syrup in place of white sugar, and we all know that honey has health benefits, while processed sugar will only undermine your health, so yes, this recipe is a healthy one. Also, instead of butter, it requires unrefined oil, which adds to the health benefits of loaves produced.

You can also modify this if you want by using a variety of flours in place of the one Kate recommends, mixing walnuts or dried fruits, and more, so feel free to experiment with this.

It’s worth noting that Kate‘s formula requires ground cinnamon, like Food Network‘s, but baking powder isn’t part of her ingredients, unlike Food Network. Like the two above, Kate’s recipe is simple and easy to follow. You can’t go wrong with it.
